School Season

Spare Parts Puppet Theatre Schools Program

Through the art of puppetry we share stories that celebrate what it is to be human, connecting audiences across generations.

Spare Parts Puppet Theatre is Australia’s flagship puppetry company and a driving force in the puppetry landscape in Australia since 1981. We are the first live performing arts experience for many of our audience members.

We believe that the performing arts are an excellent vehicle for teaching young people skills in empathy, relationship building, resilience, creative thinking and storytelling.

We are dedicated to creating an artistic program that complements and enhances the learning process while finding meaningful ways to link to the curriculum and the needs of teachers. For each show, we provide comprehensive teachers notes that include classroom activities developed by teachers, for teachers.

We provide Educational Resource Kits to accompany each performance that include comprehensive classroom activities. We have also compiled information to make planning your excursion as seamless as possible.

2022 School Season

Unfortunately, we have had to cancel the remainder of our 2022 season – you can read more about this HERE (including how you can help us!).

We are very much still working hard, however, and have possibilities to engage with your students through a September incursion performance of Hachiko – The Loyal Dog (bookings closing soon), or through workshops out in your school or community or in our heritage building (separate from the theatre).

If you would like more information about any of these or have other ideas of ways we can support your students’ learning journey through the innovative and inspiring art of puppetry, please do call us or write to audience@sppt.asn.au.
