Go For 2&5 Regional Schools Touring Program
Spare Parts has a long serving commitment to presenting highly imaginative, world-class productions that warm hearts and create infectious joy. We are excited to announce that in 2021, in partnership with Healthway (promoting the Go for 2&5 message), Horizon Power and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, we will be delivering performances of our new show Beanstalk and workshops to a huge number of schools in regional areas of Western Australia.
Students, teachers, children and adults are invited to explore puppetry with Spare Parts Puppet Theatre through both our performances and workshops as part of our regional schools tour.
This year our Go For 2&5 Regional Schools Tour will head to the Pilbara and Kimberley regions 24 May – 25 June, 2021 and Wheatbelt, Peel, South-West & Great Southern regions from 26 July – 27 August, 2021.
What’s on tour?
Everyone knows Jack’s story … but what about the giant’s? Do you even know the giant’s name? … It’s Brian! Yes, Brian! Always the one to get a bad rap … well, Brian has a very different story to tell!
Beanstalk is the hilarious retelling of Jack and the Beanstalk from the giant’s point of view. Our version of this much-loved tale takes you into the world of Brian’s kitchen where he cooks up carrots, clouds and stories of his fun and not so fun adventures of life as a giant.
For those of you who know the character Jack (the Groundler), you’ll learn to see him in a new and not so flattering light. And for those who are new to this fairy tale, you might not be so quick to judge what it means to be a person of a different size. Beanstalk will have students seeing the world from another person’s perspective and considering how first impressions are not always as they seem!
Beanstalk will tantalize student’s curiosity as they consider the science of cloud creation and the magic of beans, tomatoes and a whole host of fruits and vegetables!
