A BRIEF UPDATE REGARDING THE THEATRE CLOSURE

23 August, 2022

We have been overwhelmed by the amount of love and support we have received since announcing the closure of our theatre space in Fremantle.

THANK YOU to all of you who have taken the time to write to the Minister or to us, sharing your personal stories and heartfelt messages. Your support has already begun to make a difference and we will be forever grateful.

We have begun working with the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries to explore all of our options and are working hard to ensure we resume our performance program as soon as possible. In the short term, we are scoping alternative venues for a temporary premises. In the long term, we still believe that the smartest solution is for the theatre to be rebuilt and for us to remain at our current location at Pioneer Park on Short St.

We firmly believe we can turn this into a positive outcome with the full support of our community behind us!

Acknowledgement of Country

Spare Parts Puppet Theatre respectfully acknowledges the Whadjuk Noongar people as the traditional owners and custodians of the unceded land on which we work. As we tour our work across these vast lands, we pay our respect to all First Nations elders, past and present. We celebrate their continuing connection and contribution to culture, country and community, and thank all First Nations peoples for their wisdom in caring for the land, the sky, the rivers and the sea.
